Qualia Mind Pilot Study with Neurable EEG Headphones

OVERVIEW OF QUALIA MIND + NEURABLE PILOT STUDY

In a 4-week, single-arm pilot study, 3 participants took Qualia Mind and spent more time in High Focus and less time in Low Focus during their daily focused-work sessions compared to their own pre-supplement baseline, as measured by the Neurable MW75 Neuro EEG headphones. With three participants in this protocol, the findings should be read as a small, suggestive case series rather than a generalizable result.^†*

HOW THE QUALIA MIND + NEURABLE STUDY WAS DESIGNED

This study used Neurable MW75 Neuro headphones. These headphones track brain activity using built-in EEG sensors to measure brain waves (or brainwave activity).

The study involved three healthy, young male participants which limits the generalizability of the study. Each wore the Neurable headphones during their most cognitively demanding hour of the day, roughly 60 minutes of focused work, five times per week for four weeks. Week 1 was a no-supplement baseline week. During Weeks 2 through 4, participants took 6 capsules of Qualia Mind each morning, five days on and two days off.

The primary outcomes were changes from each participant's own baseline in cognitive states that Neurable calculates after processing and interpreting raw EEG measurements. These states are time spent in what Neurable calls “High,” “Medium,” and “Low” Focus per session, as well as Cognitive Speed, Cognitive Strain, and Brain Age. 

QUALIA MIND + NEURABLE STUDY RESULTS

Time Spent in High Focus Increased From Baseline During the Weeks Participants Took Qualia Mind^†*

During the supplementation period, participants spent significantly more time in High Focus and less time in Low Focus per session compared to their own no-supplement baseline week. We observed a delayed onset for the supplement effect: differences were small in Week 1, grew to a medium magnitude in Week 2, and reached their peak in Week 3. However, we want to stress that this was an exploratory pilot study to examine the possibility of measuring the effects of Qualia Mind through the Neurable MW75 Headphones.^†*

Cognitive Speed and Cognitive Strain Were Unchanged During the Weeks Participants Took Qualia Mind^†*

Not every measure moved. Neurable Cognitive Speed showed no change from baseline during supplementation, and Cognitive Strain trended slightly upward (a small, non-significant change). One plausible interpretation is that spending more time in a higher-intensity High Focus state carries a higher neural effort cost, though this pilot cannot confirm that. A larger, placebo-controlled study would be required to characterize these measures definitively.^†*

†Disclaimer: Based on a 28-day, single-arm, open-label pilot study (n = 3) of Qualia Mind evaluated with the Neurable MW75 Neuro EEG headphones. The study was not placebo-controlled and was not registered on ClinicalTrials.gov. Objective focus results reflect within-person change from a five-day no-supplement baseline, analyzed via linear mixed-effects model; the High Focus increase (+10.2 minutes per session pooled, p = 0.003) survived a Benjamini-Hochberg correction for multiple comparisons, and the Low Focus decrease (−4.6 minutes per session, p = 0.036) was marginal after correction. Although these results are highly encouraging, the study was not placebo-controlled and contained a small number of participants. Larger, controlled studies will be required to confirm the findings. Individual results may vary.
