Senior Research Scientist
Sara Adães, Ph.D. is a Senior Research Scientist at Qualia Life Sciences with a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (Portugal) and more than 20 years of active research experience.
Her scientific background spans neuropharmacology, the neurobiology of pain, and broader topics in cognitive and brain health, giving her deep expertise in the mechanisms that underlie human neurological function.
Areas of expertise: neuroscience · neuropharmacology · neurobiology of pain · biochemistry · cognitive health · brain aging · science communication
Sara began her research career in biochemistry at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto, where an early interest in neuroscience led her toward neuropharmacology. She completed her Ph.D. in Neuroscience at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto, where her doctoral research focused on the neurobiology of pain. That training gave her a rigorous, mechanistic understanding of how the nervous system works and how it can be supported.
At Qualia Life Sciences, Sara applies two decades of scientific expertise to translating complex neuroscience and biochemistry research into clear, accurate content. She approaches science communication with the same precision she brings to research: every claim grounded in evidence, every mechanism explained with clarity.
Credentials: Ph.D., Neuroscience, Faculty of Medicine, University of Porto · B.Sc., Biochemistry, Faculty of Sciences, University of Porto · Neuroscience researcher since 2003
