Shawn began his scientific career in chemistry and biological chemistry, completing doctoral work in organic chemistry at the University of Alberta and postdoctoral research in Biological Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology at Harvard Medical School. He went on to hold research and scientific technology leadership roles at Hoffmann-La Roche, where he led teams in bioinformatics, molecular modeling, protein crystallography, bio-NMR, spectroscopy, combinatorial chemistry, and laboratory robotics.
At Bristol-Myers Squibb, Shawn led global information technology strategy for R&D and later for the full enterprise as Senior Vice President, Information Technology, partnering with research, clinical development, regulatory, medical affairs, commercial, and corporate functions. At Qualia Life Sciences, he applies this blend of scientific, pharmaceutical, and executive experience to product strategy, formulation development, evidence standards, regulatory and quality advising, and clear science communication grounded in complex systems science.
