Science Backed Immune Support for Active Women

By Dr. Gregory Kelly, ND

Qualia developed Qualia Immune with women’s immune support needs in mind. We want everyone to have smarter, fitter immune systems, not just men. When we reviewed the science behind potential immune ingredients to include, it wasn’t sufficient that they supported immunity; ingredients needed to support immune system performance in women.

“Ingredients needed to support immune system performance in women.”

Wellmune® Baker’s Yeast Beta Glucan is an example. The makers of this premier immune support ingredient have routinely included women and minorities in their immune support clinical studies (1–5). In fact, in several of their clinical studies on seasonal immune support and respiratory health, women have far outnumbered men, with between 66-70% of the studied participants being women (6, 7). One of their clinical studies was done exclusively on stressed women: Wellmune helped these women with not only seasonal immune health, but also well-being, energy levels, and mood (8).

Lactococcus lactis strain Plasma (heat killed)—another clinically studied ingredient—supports immune system performance in both men and women (9). In one of their studies, on seasonal immune support and respiratory health, about 70% of participants were women (10).

The main reason Qualia included LJ100® Eurycoma longifolia Root Extract was because of a clinical study that found supplementation with this patented extract enhances comprehensive immunity and immune system vigor in both middle-aged men and women—there was a 50-50 split of women and men in the study (11).

Tinofend® Tinospora cordifolia Stem Extract—a clinically studied immune balancing herb from Ayurvedic medicine—was included in Qualia Immune in large part because it has been studied for supporting healthy mast cell function and seasonal comfort from environmental challenges: The clinical study included about twice as many women as men (12).

Qualia Immune includes two types of brown seaweeds—Maritech® Fucus vesiculosus Extract and Maritech® Fucorich® Undaria pinnatifida Extract. One immune support study was most impactful in our decision to include these ingredients; The studied population was 90% women (13). Another study using an Undaria pinnatifida Extract, and assessing immune response to challenges, included more than 90% women (14).

Several of the clinical studies that resulted in the decision to include a standardized Panax ginseng Root Extract included more women than men, including a study on supporting mucosal immunity (15). Palmitoylethanolamide has been studied for supporting immune balance in men and women (16). Studies on Echinacea purpurea extracts for immune support have routinely included women (17),with several including far more women than men (18, 19). The same theme holds for other ingredients we selected to include in Qualia Immune.

At Qualia, whether you are a man or woman, we want you to rest assured that your immune support needs are covered. We also want to let you know that when we designed Qualia Immune, we did it with women in mind. So we put a lot of weight into studies like the ones mentioned, because we want to make sure Qualia Immune was created from the ground up to support the immune intelligence needs of women.

"It's not the usual stuff for an immune formula. They are using really good ingredients and dosages. What impresses me about all Qualia products is the sufficiency. That is not fairy dust, they have sufficient amounts to make a difference and quality ingredients, patented proprietary ingredients that have been tested. It's impressive."

Hyla Cass, MD

"The formula is amazing. They hit it out of the park with everything I know about the immune system."

Jeffery Becker, MD

"Nobody is doing anything as complex, they are utilizing very well-known nutraceuticals and then bringing in the herbs and extracts in a really novel way. This is a very yen nourishing formula, it's coming in and providing the body more substance."
