In general, the best time to take Qualia Energy Shot™ is when you want to feel energized for several hours or more. For many people this is early in the day through mid-afternoon, since caffeine later in the day or at night may interfere with sleep. But for some people, this may be in the late afternoon or evening depending on work, study, or social schedules.
The American Academy of Pediatrics suggests limiting caffeine intake to 100 mg in teenagers 12 to 18 years old. This medical organization has not designated a safe threshold for caffeine in children 11 years old and younger. So we recommend against children drinking Qualia Energy Shot™.*
Qualia Energy Shot™ contains caffeine. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommends that pregnant women restrict their caffeine intake to less than 200 mg/day. Since other beverages—coffee, tea, some soft drinks, etc.—may also contribute to caffeine intake. Qualia Energy Shot™ also contains ginseng, which some experts suggest should be consumed with caution or avoided during pregnancy. Because of the caffeine and ginseng, we recommend that women who are pregnant or nursing not take Qualia Energy Shot™.
Children 11 years old and younger should not take Qualia Energy Shot™ because health authorities have not designated a safe threshold for caffeine in children 11 years old and younger.

Calories are food energy. They’re needed to fuel the brain and mood benefits of caffeine. When caffeine is consumed without calories, there’s a quick burst of alertness followed later by increases in fatigue, poor brain performance, and irritable moods. Put another way, calorie-free energy beverages can leave our brain performing like it ran out of gas shortly after taking them. Qualia Energy Shot™ energizes the brain and puts fuel in its fuel tank. If you want your brain to feel energized and be able to work hard for more than a quick burst of time, remember one thing: caffeine + fuel ≫ caffeine without fuel; that’s one of the Qualia Energy Shot™ differences.*
Checked 12/06: The American Academy of Pediatrics suggests limiting caffeine intake to 100 mg in teenagers 12 to 18 years old. Some other health organizations suggest limiting caffeine in the teen years to 2.5 mg per kg of body weight would roughly be about 1 mg of caffeine per pound. Ultimately, the question of whether a teen is allowed to drink Qualia Energy Shot™ is up to parents, but it has less than this suggested limit of 100 mg of caffeine and is lower in caffeine than most of the energy drinks and shots on the market that teenagers may be drinking.*
